Who we are
AskSite (“we”) provides a website FAQ chatbot at asksiteai.com. This notice describes how we handle personal information.
Information we collect
- Account data: email, name, password hash (never plaintext).
- Site data: URLs you submit and text crawled from those pages.
- Visitor leads: email (and optional name/question) when the chatbot cannot answer — stored for the site owner.
- Booking requests: name, email, optional phone, preferred times, and note when a visitor requests a meeting via the widget (Pro).
- Usage: chat counts, unanswered questions (content of questions), IP-based rate-limit counters.
How we use information
To operate the service, prevent abuse, send optional weekly digests, and process subscriptions (Starter $19/mo or Pro $49/mo USD). We do not sell personal information.
Your privacy rights (CCPA / US)
If you are a California resident (or similar US state privacy laws apply), you may request:
- Know / Access: export lead and booking-request data from your AskSite dashboard (Export CSV).
- Delete: delete leads and booking requests from the dashboard, or email us to delete your account.
- Opt-out of sale: we do not sell personal information.
- Non-discrimination: we will not deny service for exercising privacy rights.
Site owners control visitor lead data for their own sites. End visitors can ask the site owner (or us) to delete a submitted email.
Retention
Account and crawl data while your account is active. Leads until you delete them or close the account. Rate-limit and audit logs for a limited security window.
Security
We use hashed passwords, encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and least-privilege database queries. See our internal SECURITY.md for engineering controls.
